The Story of Funkasaurus

Funk-a-saurus
Shake that tail for us.
Funk-a-saurus
Ain’t nobody bad in the forest!
Free that dinosaur so your ass can follow!
There once was a egg like you’ve ever seen
Astro day-glow shell and everything in between
Rolling, shaking, on the way to be born
Taking a first peek out with diamond on its horn
Once he grew, they moved him to find his own scene
A paddock of his own where he could do his thing.
While other dinos roared and hollered, Funkasaurus had his own sound
He opened his jaws and let it rip just like James Brown.
Chorus
Funk-a-saurus
Shake that tail for us.
Funk-a-saurus
Ain’t nobody bad in the forest!
Didn’t take him long to outgrow his park enclosure
Funkasaurus needed a bigger scene with more fan exposure.
This theropod has moves not seen in 65 million years
But don’t get too close now, he’s not as docile as he appears
When he’s laying the boogie down, the pretenders have to cower.
No one can stop Funkasaurus when he unleashes his genetic power.
Now he’s funking in your backyard to the zookeeper’s dismay
This groovy dino is free because life finds a way
Funk-a-saurus
Shake that tail for us.
Funk-a-saurus
Ain’t nobody bad in the forest!
Free that dinosaur so your ass can follow!

Slut Energy

What a strange question she asked of me
And I might be the wrong man
It’s a countenance that I always try to understand
I’m the wrong interlocutor if you’re looking for shame
And I if get turned it, it’s how you play the game.
She wants to know
She wants to know
She wants to know
If she has slut energy.
Practice no restraint with your meal
Sweetly savor each drop
Your hunger isn’t something you ever need conceal
You can lick up all the sauces as they run
Answer the important question when you’re done
You want to know
You want to know
You want to know
Do you have slut energy?
Share with me all your stories
don’t tell no lies
There’s nothing you can say
That would raise my eyes
Share with me all your stories
don’t tell no lies
There’s nothing you can say
That would raise my eyes
You want to know
You want to know
You want to know
if you have slut energy

Born in Kalamazoo

Stumbling through my old neighborhood
The sidewalks always feel the same
Old houses still line up as they should
The master's voice you must obey
I was born into another time
I was living someone else's life
Leaving the scene of the crime
I was living on the edge of a knife
City streets are rivers running deep
You buried secrets that won't stay
In catacombs where lovesick lovers sleep
The place where all your ghosts remain
I was born into another time
I was living someone else's life
Leaving the scene of the crime
I was living on the edge of a knife

Well, I may have started to shiver
As I saw you contact my eye
I knew that I wasn’t ready
To hold your hand or graze your thigh
Y’see, I’m just a little fucked up now
But I’m sure you’d be a treat
But I don’t have time to get all tangled beside you
So I’m going to have to keep my own beat
One foot in front of the other
Something new there to discover
One foot in front of the other
It’s all good solo or lover
I’m looking for a new day of thawing
When the days can burn a little hot
I’ve been so cold and alone now
There’s some things I could stand to be taught
Such as how to open up my heart now
To one as lovely as you
Because I’m still as they say just a little fucked up now
But I know that won’t always be true
One foot in front of the other
Something new there to discover
One foot in front of the other
It’s all good solo or lover

Professional Person Kalamazoo, Michigan
Five of us first gathered to make music more than two decades ago in Southwest Michigan under the name The Empty Handed Painters. Eventually, that came to an end. With the loss of our friend/drummer/founder Glenn and geographic dispersion, we now make music together online as "Professional Person." ... more
